Thank you for the lessons (poem)

I loved you because that is who I am and how I love

You broke my heart

Shattered it a million times

The fragile pieces of me

I believed your words,

Yet your actions contradicted them.

I did not know I could walk away,

So I stayed for too long

You broke my heart

Betrayed me with your jealousy and

hatred

I loved you because thats who I am

You are obsessed with me,

Purposefully trying to harming me

You can not let me go.

If I was so important to you,

You could have treated me better.

Instead you made it your mission to try to destroy me.

But you failed.

I came from you.

You were supposed to love me, guide me and support me.

I loved you because that’s who I am.

The greatest pains I endured was at your hands, your words, your silence

You did not hurt me,

You obliterated me.

Shattered my tiny heart into the abyss of the Universe

Lost in the ether

Nowhere safe

You left me

I loved you because that is who I am.

I searched for you in everyone but never found you

It damaged me

Thank you all for not loving me

Thank you for the lessons

You were not able to love me but through all the pain I am learning to truly love myself

The things you never taught me

The love I was giving away so freely

Thank you for the thorns

The fragrance of my roses
